Predators captain Shea Weber wanted to focus on Game 2 of the Western Conference quarterfinals rather than the late hit on Detroit’s Henrik Zetterberg when he spoke with the media on Friday morning.

“I’m excited for Game 2. I know Detroit is going to come out flying. They are going to be better and we need to be better as well. Both teams are two of the most disciplined teams during the regular season. Last game, I think everyone was ramped up and ready to go, maybe crossed the line.  Obviously we need to play in control,” he said.

“I know we are going to be more disciplined. I’m sure they will be as well. It is going to be fast and hard hitting, and hopefully not as many penalties and just good 5-on-5 hockey.”

A more physical game is likely after the late-game exchanges between Weber and Zetterberg as well as Nashville’s Paul Gaustad and Detroit’s Todd Bertuzzi. Both Detroit and Nashville delivered 18 hits on Wednesday night. Seven of Detroit’s 18 hits came from Brad Stuart.

One thing is for certain; Detroit wants to have more net presence in front of Pekka Rinne. After Wednesday’s game, Detroit head coach Mike Babcock said the team let the Nashville netminder off the hook.

Rinne is ready for the extra traffic.

“You always expect that the other teams are trying to get more in your face and interfere with you and just put a lot of bodies in front there. You always expect that. At the same time, our defense is always helping there and blocking shots. At the end of the regular season and in Game 1, I thought we blocked a lot of shots. Even our forwards, they do a really good job. That helps so much,” he said.
