Good news from Sharks Ice: Nitty was on the ice this morning before practice. He wasn’t wearing pads but he was out there so that’s a good sign.
Not at practice were Dan Boyle and Martin Havlat. Since we did hear that Boyle was under the weather in the last couple of games, him being out today doesn’t worry me much. To prevent worry, I’m going to hope strongly that Havlat has caught the bug and isn’t missing for any other reason. Fingers crossed.

San Jose Sharks captain Joe Thornton apologized on Thursday for calling the New York Rangers "probably the softest team we played against."
The New York Rangers had just defeated the Sharks by a 5-2 decision on Monday when Thornton noted that "we played some good teams, and I think we probably should have beat these guys, to be honest with you."

John Tortorella did not appreciate Sharks captain Joe Thornton calling the Rangers soft after the Blueshirts defeated San Jose, 5-2, Monday night. Not one bit.
One could hear the clarification coming from miles away: Joe Thornton — frustrated by the San Jose Sharks' effort in the last game of their road trip, losing for the first time on that six-game swing to the New York Rangers — drops the S-bomb on the Blueshirts:
"To be honest with you, they were probably the softest team we played against on this road trip."
The Rangers won’t face the Sharks anymore in the regular season, but coach John Tortorella got in his blows yesterday at San Jose center Joe Thornton for calling the Blueshirts “soft.’’
An incensed Tortorella branded the 6-foot-4, 230-pound Thornton as a “classless’’ individual who’s never won anything and...
Ryane Clowe scored the lone goal in a shootout and Thomas Greiss stopped all three Pittsburgh attempts as the San Jose Sharks overcame a two-goal deficit in the third period to beat the Penguins 4-3 on Thursday night. It was San Jose's eighth straight home win over Pittsburgh. The Penguins earned their first point in San Jose since a 1999 tie but still haven't won at the...
Largely because of Crosby's concussion, for example, San Jose Sharks defenseman Douglas Murray has a ridiculously tougher job than he did a year ago.
