On Wednesday night, the Flyers and Penguins met in the game one of their first round series at the Consol Energy Center. The Penguins watched a 3-0 lead disappear, and then saw Jake Voracek bury home a rebound to win game one in overtime, capping off an improbable comback for the Flyers.

The Penguins were stunned, so were the 18,565 fans (some in bear costumes) in attendance at the Consol Energy Center.

Game One had everything you could ask for as a Flyers fan; a huge come from behind victory by the good guys, tons of physical play, good goaltending, and angry Penss fans.

Here are some of the things you will need to look for in Game 2:

  • More physical play: There were 74 total hits in Game One. I find it hard to believe that the hitting (and even dirty play) will slow down tonight, especially because the refs have their whistles in their pockets anyway. I mean come on, we're talking about Bettman's favorite team here.
  • Danny Briere: Mr. April, Mr. Playoffs, Mr. Screw Everyone Who Was On Me During the Regular Season (pick your poison). After his 2 goal performance in Game 1, he now has 98 total points in 98 career playoff games, and is always a threat in the second season. Look for him and his linemates Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds to continue to have significant impacts in this series.
  • Sidney Crosby & Evgeni Malkin: Although Crosby scored on Wednesday, the Flyers did a great job of shutting him and Malkin down. These two guys will have to be big for Pittsburgh tonight and despite how much we hate them, they're ALWAYS a threat.
  • Claude Giroux: His line had a few good shifts of solid pressure, but G wasn't himself on Wednesday. We haven't seen much of the dominant Claude from earlier on in the season lately. That changes tonight.
  • Goaltending: The masked men for both sides turned out solid efforts in Game 1... tonight shouldn't be any different.

Game 2 of the 2012 NHL Quarterfinals will be aired at 7:30 on Comcast Sportsnet. Here's to hoping the Flyers don't dig themselves another hole. It's going to burn them eventually, and frankly, I'm not sure if the fans can handle another game like that.
