When Being No. 8 Ain't So Great

You can't say I didn't warn you. When I composed my jeremiad, issued my Fatwah as it were, on the occasion of the Capitals inking Jose Theodore as their no. 1 netminder last summer, I had the past 36 hours in mind: an otherwise nice-looking Capitals' club undone in crunch time because they were most vulnerable where it mattered most -- in net. Basically, I said: you don't get it right in net, all else is candy and frosting, no vitamins. It was reactionary on my part, and I took a good deal of heat for it (including a rebuttal from the team owner).
