The Nashville Predators are looking for a top 6 forward in the free agent market and there is one available, if they have the money. Phoenix Coyotes captain, Shane Doan, is an unrestricted free agent and will have to sign with a team sooner rather than later. However, Doan will wait out the news of ownership and it could take a while.

Read more after the jump.

Shane Doan has stated that he would like to stay in Phoenix if the ownership situation is solved. Right now, it isn't as news broke out Sunday that potential owner and former San Jose Sharks' CEO, Greg Jamison, is $20 million short of the NHL's asking price.

According to a report, Doan wants a four-year, $30 million contract. There are six offers on the table. The Nashville Predators, Detroit Red Wings, San Jose Sharks, Vancouver Canucks and Pittsburgh Penguins have all expressed interest in his services, while the New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers and Montreal Canadiens have met, or will meet with him.

The Nashville Predators would love to sign Shane Doan, but the money could be an issue. With the huge re-signing of captain Shea Weber to a $110 million contract, do they have the money to sign a Doan?

The ownership group should have enough money to sign Doan because Nashville is around $400,000 under the cap floor. Signing Doan would definitely get the Predators above the cap floor and bring in more attention to the team.

Shane Doan would be a perfect fit for the Nashville Predators. Coyotes head coach, Dave Tippett, and Barry Trotz's system are almost mirror images, as one could tell in the playoffs last season.

Also, Doan has hinted at that he wants his family to be happy and in a good environment. There is lower costs of living and no income tax. Plus, there isn't as high of media pressure as there are in many other cities.

To add to the list, he and Mike Fisher are good friends and would most likely be on the same line together. They would score on the ice and help off the ice. Doan could replace Jordin Tootoo in terms of helping out the community.

Hopefully, Fisher and Weber are starting to play "recruiter" to Doan and ask him to lower his asking price.

As more news comes out about the situation in Glendale, it will affect what Shane Doan wants to do. If everything works out and the Coyotes stay in Phoenix, there is almost zero chance that he doesn't stay in Glendale.
