ST. PAUL, Minn. Several Minnesota Wild and other NHL players, including New Jersey Devils star Zach Parise, will be part of a charity hockey game on June 20 at Ridder Arena on the University of Minnesota campus. Players currently scheduled to attend include Josh Harding and Nate Prosser from the Wild, Washington Capitals forward Matt Hendricks, Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jamie McBain as well as former University of North Dakota goaltender Jordan Parise and Gigi Marvin, a former Minnesota Gophers star and current member of the USA national women's team. Zach Parise inclusion is sure to peak interest with the pending free agent expected to be courted this offseason by the Wild. Other NHL players participating in the game will be announced on www.defendingtheblueline.org and on social media each week leading up to the game. The game will be hosted by Defending the Blue Line, a non-profit organization created by a group of National Guard soldiers in Minnesota helps military families with the costs associated with hockey, including assisting with registration fees, free equipment and summer hockey camps. Tickets will be 20 in advance and 25 at the door and can be purchased on the Defending the Blue Line's website or by contacting Shane Hudella at (651) 253-6737. Groups of 20 or more will receive discounted ticket prices of 15 each. There are also 14-seat luxury suites available for a cost of 500. Player game-worn jerseys will be autographed and auctioned off after the game and other prizes will be awarded, such as Wild camoflauge sweaters and game tickets. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with an autograph session with players. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Follow Brian Hall on Twitter.
