The Florida Panthers and Minnesota Wild are two of the league's lowest-scoring teams, and their offensive woes have contributed to recent skids which have hurt their postseason hopes. Florida looks to salvage the finale of a four-game homestand Thursday night against Minnesota, which has not scored more than one goal in a road game this month. The Panthers (27-20-11) are battling Washington, Winnipeg and Tampa Bay for the Southeast Division crown, with the possibility that the three teams who don't win it could all miss the playoffs. Florida hasn't helped its cause by getting outscored 10-3 and losing the first three on its homestand, including a 2-0 loss to Anaheim on Sunday. Jose Theodore, who played 32 games for Minnesota last season, had his second straight solid outing with 25 saves after a 39-save effort in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Capitals. The Panthers have scored more than two goals just twice in their last 10 home games, and they've had no more than...

He'll snap a tie with right wing Radek Dvorak for the honor. "It's a great accomplishment for anybody to put in a long tenure at any business," Florida coach Kevin Dineen...

Opponent’s style analysis: Jose Theodore

Although I think the system is broken when the team which currently has the 8th most points in the conference gets the 3rd seed simply by virtue of a weak division, that’s where the Panthers find themselves.  They are a good story after an on-the-fly rebuild in the off-season, but as a result, the 6th seeded team draws the easier matchup than the 4th or 5th seed, but I digress...

Backstrom again brilliant in 3-2 shootout road win over Florida

Maybe its the Social Studies teacher in me, but I've always been fascinated by Prohibition.  I am certainly not person adverse to alcohol, in moderation of course.  Yet I would say I don't mind tipping back a Labatt Blue, or a Sam Adams or even a New Glarus brew while watching some hockey on TV.  However do I need a beer to enjoy the game?  Not at all.  Going back to...
