SAINT PAUL, Minn. Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher announced Monday the Wild have re-signed center Chad Rau to a two-year, two-way contract and left wing Stephane Veilleux to a one-year, two-way contract. Rau, 25, collected two goals in nine games with Minnesota this season. He recorded the game-winning goal in his NHL debut against Dallas on Jan. 21 and also recorded the game-winning goal against Boston on Feb. 19. The 5-foot-11, 184-pound native of Eden Prairie, Minn., ranked fifth on the Houston Aeros with 35 points and a plus-6 rating in 67 contests. Rau was originally signed as a free agent by Minnesota on May 17, 2010. Veilleux, 30, compiled two assists and 15 penalty minutes (PIM) in 21 matches with Minnesota after being acquired in a trade from New Jersey on Feb. 24 -- along with defenseman Kurtis Foster, right wing Nick Palmieri, a 2012 second round pick and a 2013 third round pick -- in exchange for defenseman Marek Zidlicky. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound native of St. Georges de Beauce, Que., skated in one game with New Jersey and recorded 22 points and 53 PIM in 40 games with Albany (AHL). Veilleux has collected 101 points and 317 PIM in 460 career NHL games with Minnesota, Tampa Bay and New Jersey. He ranks eighth on the Wild's all-time games played list and 10th in PIM. Veilleux was originally selected by Minnesota in the third round (93rd overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. The Wild has also made qualifying offers to eight restricted free agents: center Cody Almond, goaltender Dennis Endras, defensemen Justin Falk and Chay Genoway, center David McIntyre, and right wings Carson McMillan, Jarod Palmer and Nick Palmieri.
