As training camps sit just a couple weeks away, there are still several NHL veterans looking for jobs. Though most of them are in the twilight of their respective careers, most are still searching for one last shot at glory before they decide to call it quits.
However, as September wears on, any chance of these guys being picked up begins to get less and less certain. Though some solid veterans, with good character, like John Madden, could be in store for a spot if he wishes, the market for goaltenders, like Marty Turco, or 36-year-old defensemen, like Bryan McCabe, is beginning to dwindle.
As old as those names sound, there is still some talent to be found out on the free agent market. One never knows what types of injuries and struggles guys will run into during training camp, preseason, and early on into the regular season. That being said, which free agents could be in store for a job should a team come calling within the next month or so?
One of those guys is free agent defense...
