The Detroit Red Wings locked up what may be one of their future stars to a an entry-level contract Monday night.
According to CapGeek.com, the Wings and 2011 draft pick (35th overall) Tomas Jurco agreed to terms on a three-year deal worth more than $2.12 million with a salary cap hit of $709,187. This essentially means that Jurco will more than likely begin the 2012-13 season with the Grand Rapids of the AHL, Detroit’s top minor league affiliate.
Jurco has spent the last three season’s playing for the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League where in 172 career games has compiled 87 goals and 88 assists.
Last season, Jurco had 30 goals and 38 assists in 45 games powering the Sea Dogs to a regular season championship.
Jurco though has made quite a name for himself though on YouTube where his puck handling skills have left Wings fans dreaming of one day seeing a line composed of both Pavel Datsyuk and the young prospect. Talk about a defenses worst nightmare.
