A couple Boston Bruins are living it up in Las Vegas this week, in town for the NHL Awards Ceremony. Captain Zdeno Chara is nominated for the Norris Trophy, recognizing the league's best defenceman, while center Patrice Bergeron is up for the Selke Trophy, recognizing the best defensive forward on the ice. Chara called the nomination a "huge honor," while Bergeron took some time to talk about rehabbing from injury, in addition to his league-best plus-minus rating. Watch the video above to hear it all in the Bruins stars' own words.

Zdeno Chara Has The Best Raw Corsi

Yesterday I posted the top 20 players in 2011/12 by their Corsi rating.  Heading the list is Zdeno Chara.  That is a success of Corsi ratings.  Chara is a very good hockey player.  I think he is the best defenceman in hockey.  He is a Norris Trophy nominee and is my pick as the most deserving winner.  There is a realistic possibility that Shea Weber wins the award because...

Patrice Bergeron Just Doesn't Want to Forget to Thank Anyone After Capturing Selke (Video)

As a 12-year-old kid, the only thing Patrice Bergeron hated more than he loved scoring goals was having his team scored on while he was on the ice. On Wednesday, Bergeron was (finally) honored by the NHL with the Frank J. Selke Trophy, recognizing the best defensive forward in the league. Finishing the 2011-12 campaign with an NHL-leading plus/minus rating of plus-36, Bergeron also...

Boston's Patrice Bergeron has won the Selke Trophy as the NHL's best defensive forward. Bergeron won the trophy at the NHL Awards ceremony on Wednesday night. The 2011 Stanley Cup champion beat out St. Louis captain David Backes and Detroit's Pavel Datsyuk, a three-time Selke winner. Bergeron had 22 goals and 42 assists for the Bruins while racking up a plus-36 rating...

Patrice Bergeron Wins Selke Trophy at 2012 NHL Awards

Patrice Bergeron now has another award to add to his collection. Bergeron was awarded the Frank J. Selke Trophy at the 2012 NHL Awards Wednesday night. The Selke Trophy is handed out to "the forward who best excels in defensive aspects of the game." The Boston Bruins forward won the award over St. Louis' David Backes and former three-time Selke Trophy winner Pavel Datsyuk...

Patrice Bergeron Earns Some Long Overdue Recognition With Selke Trophy Win

Going into the evening, Patrice Bergeron's resume wasn't exactly thin. The Bruins' alternate captain has won a Stanley Cup, an Olympic gold medal and also gold at the World Junior Championships. But those were all team achievements. In many ways it was fitting that Bergeron's accolades had all been within the context of team accomplishments. Bergeron is the ultimate...

Patrice Bergeron, Like Evgeni Malkin and Shea Weber, Deserving of NHL Hardware (Podcast)

The hockey season may be over, but it's still a busy week for the NHL. Norris Trophy Race

Of the NHL Awards announced yesterday I think the biggest mistake the voters made was the Norris Trophy.  Erik Karlsson of the Ottawa Senators won the award,  Shea Weber of the Nashville Predators was the runner up and Zdeno Chara of the Boston Bruins finished third.  These three players were far ahead of the other vote recipients and were clearly the class of the 2011/12 defencemen...
