BOSTON — Zdeno Chara reminded the hockey world of two things on Sunday night in Boston. He reminded everyone why he’s the Bruins captain, and he sent a startling reminder as to why you don’t want to ever fight the big fella. Chara pummeled Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin in the second period of Sunday night’s game after Chara apparently thought Emelin cheap-shotted B’s forward Tyler Seguin. Chara went right after Emelin, decked him with a hit and then picked him up and started throwing haymakers. Chara didn’t get away scot-free, though. He was give the five-minute fighting major as well as a two-minute instigator and a 10-minute misconduct. See the one-sided fight in the video below.

Bruins Have Plenty More Reasons to ‘Hate the Habs’ After Letting Lead Slip Away Against Montreal (Video)

You can’t win ‘em all, but you’d like to win as many as you can against a hated rival. The Bruins weren’t able to overcome the absence of Zdeno Chara in the third period of Sunday night’s loss to the Canadiens, allowing a one-goal lead to turn into a deficit while their captain sat in the sin bin. In a game filled with chippy play from start to finish, Brad Marchand appeared...

Dougie Hamilton Likes Busy March Schedule Because It Means More Playing, Less Practicing (Video)

The Bruins knew it was coming all year. After a slower schedule compared to the rest of the league through January and February, the Bruins won’t have two off days in a row until March 28 and 29. Boston will play 17 games in March with 15 of those games coming in the first 27 days of the month. Because of the tough schedule, the Bruins are trying not to get ahead of themselves...

Brad Marchand Continues Evolution Into Bruins’ Most Clutch Goal Scorer

BOSTON — One of the obvious narratives that continues to develop in this Bruins season is the goal-scoring touch that Brad Marchand continues to display. You know that it won’t last forever, but then again, the B’s forward continues to pot big goals. He did that once again Saturday afternoon at TD Garden when he scored with just 2:16 to play in the third period, giving the...

Video- A Frustrated Claude Julien

from Joe Haggerty of CSNNE, “The frustrating thing is that we get 17 minutes into the penalty box when we should have been on the power play. It’s as simple as that,” said Julien. “It’s frustrating because tonight – as everybody saw – there’s a lot of embellishment. This is embarrassing for our game: the embellishing. Right now they’ve got over 100 power plays...

Claude Julien Goes Off on Referees After Loss to Canadiens, Calls on NHL to Crack Down on Embellishing (Video)

Bruins Showing Cracks in Defensive Armor As Penalty Kill Dominance Begins to Fade (Video)

The Bruins have always been a defensive-minded team, so it came as little surprise that the team’s penalty kill unit was the best in the league. However, recent times have seen Boston’s dominance with a man down coming back down to Earth. Montreal scored on the power play Sunday, continuing a downward trend for the previously sterling Boston defense. While the Bruins’ own power...

Hey Julien, Worry About Your Own Team

from Canadiens.com, The Habs give their take on Claude Julien’s comments and look towards their match-up with the Islanders. When asked about some of Julien’s less-than-flattering comments...

Max Pacioretty Says Bruins’ Embellishment Comments Stem From ‘Jealousy’

Thanks to two Tampa powerplay goals the Bruins quickly found themselves in a 2-0 hole, but were able to sack up and prove once again that they have heart. Steven Stamkos and Alex Killorn would score during the first period, as Tampa took a commanding 2-0 lead. Claude must have said something...
