ST. LOUIS St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has named Sergei Zubov Consultant to Hockey Operations. "Sergei was a champion in the NHL and is well respected in our league and also in Europe," said Armstrong. "We will rely heavily on his opinion and expertise as he monitors our European prospects." Zubov, 42, was originally drafted by the New York Rangers in 1990 and crafted a 16-year NHL career including stints with New York and the Pittsburgh Penguins before spending his final 12 seasons with the Dallas Stars. A three-time NHL All-Star while with Dallas, Zubov ranks fourth overall in Stars history in games played while he remains the franchises all-time leader in all major offensive categories among defenseman. Zubov is a two-time Stanley Cup champion winning with both New York in 1994 and Dallas in 1999 alongside then General Manager Doug Armstrong. Overall, the Moscow, Russia native dressed in 1,068 regular season games during his career and recorded 771 points including 152 goals and 619 assists. Zubov is the NHLs all-time leader in points among Russian-born defenseman while he ranks 19th among defenseman overall.
