Capitals RW Semin to sit out Tuesday's game
Washington Capitals right wing Alexander Semin will sit out Tuesday's game against the Calgary Flames.
Semin missed Monday's practice and left Tuesday's morning skate early due to a deep cut on his right arm.
Capitals coach Dale Hunter said Semin is listed as day-to-day.
The 27-year-old Semin has 10 goals and 10 assists in 34 games this season.

Semin Is Good For You
In Alexander Semin’s first 27 games of the season, he had 5 Goals. Now all of a sudden, he’s got 4 Goals in his last 5 games (including 2 last night). Maybe he just wasn’t healthy those first 2 months, but I put the blame squarely on his Russian laziness. Whatever it is that lit a fire under his butt is not important. The only thing you need to know is that...

Alexander Semin, the un-tradeable?
By Alexander Monaghan
President
By Bridget Samuels
At noon today the NHL roster freeze was removed, effectively turning the heat up from a simmer on this year’s hot stove. In fact, Greg Wyshynski and Jeff Marek chose to make it their topic of the day for their fantastic #MvsW podcast, asking “who is the first name player to be traded?”
Taking a few seasons worth...

Is Alexander Semin on verge of a trade?
Washington Capitals forward Alexander Semin was a healthy scratch in Monday’s game against the Coyotes. He didn’t skate in the pregame skate, or the morning skate, and Bruce Boudreau has called him out numerous times the past few weeks. Does this mean that Semin’s playing days with the Capitals are done?
He is in the final year of his contract with the Capitals and has not...

The Capitals Split With the Devil(s)
After suffering back-to-back losses — the first against the New York Islanders, the team with the worst record in the Eastern Conference, and the second an embarrassing effort against the Dallas Stars — it was time to see whether the Capitals could get back to playing the kind of hockey that it takes to remain at the top of their game. Enter the New Jersey Devils, a team that...

Alexander Semin as a Nashville Predator?
Could there be a remote possibility of Alexander Semin coming to join the Nashville Predators? Semin has offensive skill in leaps and bounds over any current Predator, but there are concerns dealing with his off-ice persona and his on-ice commitments. Through correspondence with Dave Nichols of Caps Network News and Angie Lewis of the Washington Post/The Hockey Writers, we have put...

Saturday Faceoff: Would you trade for Semin?
With the free agents all picked over, some teams are still looking for some offensive punch. One name that a lot of people have turned to is Alexander Semin as possible/likely trade bait. If you one of the other 29 general managers in the NHL, would you trade for Semin? Erika and I debate…No, Semin is not worth itBy Ryan PorthI don’t know if there’s another...

Reasons to Trade Semin
I've often said that you can find statistics to support any theory, and blogger Neil Greenberg follows that mantra with his recent post, "Statistical analysis: The importance of Alexander Semin." Well, my friend, here is a counter-argument:Firstly, you don't address the playoffs. In 37 career playoff games, Semin has 12 goals -- and eight have come in two series against the New York...

The Case for Dealing Sasha Semin
When it comes to Alexander Semin, I feel like one of those parents who has a child with incredible intelligence and the ability to achieve whatever he wants, but he refuses to study or apply himself. He has such great innate abilities, but he squanders them simply because he doesn’t feel like working and developing them. In Semin the Caps have a player who acts just like that,...
