Looks like there was more to dropping Yashin than money...apparently Ryan Smyth refused to even consider resigning with the team if Yashin was on the roster, it also opens the door for a potential return of one-time captain Michael Peca, himself an impending free agent with the Maple Leafs.

In discussing with some friends of mine, one "suspects that something could be brewing involving Yashin. Maybe a handshake deal that will happen this summer. Perhaps a trade has been done, not involving Blake, but the League needs to OK it in order for it to be finalized." Only time will tell...
