The Buffalo Sabres re-signed restricted free agent Andrej Sekera on Tuesday to a four-year, $11 million deal, avoiding arbitration, but are now in an unfamiliar position.

Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier today announced that defenseman Andrej Sekera and forward Matt Ellis have each agreed to multi-year contracts.

Sabres D Sekera files for arbitration
Buffalo Sabres defenseman Andrej Sekera filed for salary arbitration prior to Tuesday's deadline, his agent said.
Sekera remains a restricted free agent but is hopeful that a long-term deal can be worked out for him to stay with Buffalo. An arbitration hearing has not yet been set.
