Richard Cloutier: Sutton Re-Signed; Sticking Around
Sometimes, even Oilers management do the right thing.
Late Saturday, Nick Kypreos from Sportsnet passed on the news that defenseman Andy Sutton and the Edmonton Oilers were close to signing a one-year contract extension worth $1.75mil. The Oilers website and other sports sites have yet to confirm this signing, but it makes complete sense.
The Oilers, at best, could have dealt...

John Jaeckel: Interesting Late Night Tip
Follow me @jaeckel.
In addition to the Hawks being at the center of the Trade Rumor Mill yesterdayâinvolving Andy Sutton (first reported here a week ago), Evgeni Nabokov and Adam Burish (which are plausible), and Tuomo Ruutu (much less plausible)â I heard late last night that there might in fact be a problem in the Hawk dressing room.
What I heard is that a number...

Andy Sutton Returns From Another Suspension
from Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal, “It seemed like an eternity I was out, but we’ve got a lot of energy in this room and I’m looking to get back and pick up where I left off,” said Sutton.
Well, not exactly. He knows he’s going to have to change his method of hitting somewhat, maybe use different body parts.
“This will be hard because...

Oilers’ Andy Sutton doesn’t dig the Shanaban process
You know how, every once in a while, someone makes an incredibly astute observation and then chooses to continue speaking, sticking his or her foot in their mouth in the process? Edmonton Oilers defenseman Andy Sutton, who just happens to find himself suspended for eight games, told the Edmonton Sun’s Derek Van Diest that he feels players must be allowed to appeal their suspensions...

A Major Suspension for Andy Sutton?
When the Edmonton Oilers signed Andy Sutton this summer I had a fear of a day like this coming...a potential major suspension for the big man; Sutton is considered a repeat offender for head-shot incidents and has earned an in-person meeting with Brendan Shanahan for his latest hit on Gabriel Landeskog in Friday’s game against the Colorado Avalanche. The meeting is schedule...

RE 11-12: Ken Sutton
Ken Sutton is massive. Huge. I'm fairly certain he'll be a third pairing enforcer who has a lot of penalty killing experience. After his acquisition I had a look at his previous jobs and that's what the resume looks like to me. I wonder how long Sutton will be in town. He's 36, makes 2M and is a free agent next summer. Should the Oilers need to move him before the trade deadline...
