Flames place D Babchuk on IR
The Calgary Flames placed defenseman Anton Babchuk on injured reserve Wednesday with a hand injury.
Babchuk was hurt in Wednesday's 3-0 loss to the Minnesota Wild. He has three assists in eight games this season.
To replace Babchuk on the roster, the Flames called up defenseman T.J. Brodie from their AHL affiliate in Abbotsford.

The Calgary Flames have re-signed defenseman Anton Babchuk to a two-year contract extension worth $5 million.
The 27-year-old played in 65 games with Calgary last season after coming over in a trade from Carolina along with Tom Kostopoulos.

By now, most of the comments have been made about Anton Babchuk. Canes general manager Jim Rutherford says the defenseman could go back to Russia to play, or could be traded.
