Betts Returned To Flyers, Laperierre Placed On Long-Term IR
NHL rules state that if a team claims a player on waivers and finds out he is hurt after the fact, they can void the claim.
This is exactly what happened in the case of Blair Betts, who has been returned to the Flyers after the Montreal Canadiens found something that concerned them.
Here is the statement released by Flyers GM Paul Holmgern.

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Betts Situation
After watching a marathon of hockey on Friday and Saturday, I figured that it would be safe to take a day away yesterday. I stashed away my phone and accompanied my two-year-old son, Benjamin, on an outing to Sesame Place. When we went back to the car, I glanced at my emails and saw the Flyers press release about Blair Betts being returned to the club as a result of failing his physical...

Flyers extend Betts for 2 years, 1.4 million
You can make the argument that Blair Betts is one of the most important Flyers. No, he doesn't score a lot of points. And, no, he doesn't get time on the power play, fight or rack up a ton of hits. Still, what Betts does for the Flyers is something every team in the NHL needs. He's a glue guy that plays great defensive hockey and kills penalties with the best of them. He's a...

Ducks-Wings: Mike Brown's Hit On Jiri Hudler.
This will be the next hit that is going to be looked at in the NHL. Some in the media are comparing it to the Donald Brashear hit on Blair Betts. It looked like a pretty rough hit and you can bet the NHL will look at the hit.
