Canadiens' Gionta out indefinitely after undergoing surgery on torn biceps
Montreal Canadiens captain Brian Gionta will be sideliend indefinitely after undergoing surgery to repair a right biceps muscle.
Gionta was hurt in the third period of Tuesday's game against St. Louis. It was only his second game back after missing a month with a groin injury.
The surgery was performed Wednesday in Montreal and the team called the procedure a success.

MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens General Manager Pierre Gauthier issued Wednesday a medical update on the status of forward Brian Gionta.

Brian Gionta will be the second American to become the Captain of The Montreal Canadiens.
There could not be a better choice as Gionta starts his second of what will be a five year term in Montreal and probably more as Brian has impressed a whole city in just a year in the red and white and blue.
