Winnik also out with flu, Avs going with 7 defensemen vs. Montreal
Avalanche winger Daniel Winnik won’t play against Montreal tonight because of the flu.
With two other forwards on the active roster — Milan Hejduk and Cody McLeod — also out with groin muscle issues, Colorado will go with seven defensemen and 11 forwards in the lineup.

Winnik mixes it up for Avalanche
After a strong season for a team that shocked the hockey world with a playoff berth, Daniel Winnik got a shocker of his own from the Phoenix Coyotes. Just as he was set to enjoy the rest of his summer, Winnik was told he had been traded.

Coyotes' F Winnik scores 1-year deal in arbitration
Phoenix Coyotes forward Daniel Winnik was awarded a one-year contract following of an arbitration hearing.
Terms of the deal were not released Friday.
The 24-year-old left winger had three goals and four assists in 49 games with the Coyotes last season.
As a rookie with Phoenix in 2007-08, Winnik had 11 goals and 15 assists in 79 games.
