Shocker: Habs blow a lead
This time, it was 3-1. And they lost 5-3.
Sure, there were some awful calls by the referee, and the winning goal was very questionable due to a trip on Erik Cole that led to the play, but the Habs blew this one. Plain and simple. Perhaps that is part of the reason that Randy Cunneyworth appeared close to coming onto the ice after the Cole non-call. He was furious. Shaking. And...

No hearing scheduled for Canadiens RW Cole
Montreal Canadiens right wing Erik Cole is not expected to face any further disciplinary action following his hit to the head of New Jersey Devils rookie defenseman Adam Larsson during Saturday's contest.
There was no hearing scheduled with NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan - thus leaving Cole with just the minor penalty he incurred for the hit.
Larsson was not seriously...

Eric Engels: Cole Back in 'Lina, Eller vs. Desharnais, Trade Rumors
I have an inclination that Erik Cole might be able to muster more than the one assist he managed in his first meeting against the Carolina Hurricanes this season. Perhaps because it stands to reason that he's sure to receive more than the 13:43 he was afforded ahead of a game with the New York Islanders the very next night.
It made sense to spread the minutes around in...

Will Cole be worth it in Montreal?
That is what Montreal Canadiens fans are wondering after signing unrestricted free agent Erik Cole to a four-year deal worth $4.5 million a season back on July 1st.As a member of the Carolina Hurricanes this past season, the 33-year-old forward had 26 goals and 26 assists for 52 points in an injury-free season. He showed flashes of his former-self from the 2005-06 season, when he...

Cole hopes his Montreal success sticks with Habs
Erik Cole is looking forward to having Montreal Canadiens fans cheer his name instead of curse it.
Cole, who signed a four-year, $18 million dollar deal with Montreal on July 1, wore his new No. 72 Canadiens uniform for the first time Thursday while taking part in a children's hockey school at the team's suburban practice facility.
A thorn in the side of the Canadiens whenever...

'Old man' Cole offers direction
Erik Cole has been one of the take-charge guys the last few days in the Canes' informal workouts at the RecZone. But don't try calling it "Camp Cole," he said today.
"It will always be 'Camp Brind'Amour,'" Cole said, smiling. "It would be a disgrace to Roddy if we took over the title. Let's just call it informal workouts."
For...

Player Review: Erik Cole
Provided by Yardbarker.com
Erik Cole has been a corner stone to the Carolina Hurricanes franchise and has been on both Stanley Cup final teams in 2002 and 2006. However, the last couple of years Cole has been fighting the injury bug which continued this past season.
Erik Cole was re-aquired at last years deadline and seemed to [...]

It's an Erik Cole Christmas!
As you can see, it's been an Erik Cole kind of Christmas around these parts. I would like to think that the bobblehead turned out looking than those horrific pictures that were released earlier - but that might be the endless optimism talking.Unfortunately, that optimism doesn't extend to how the Canes played in the 5-1 loss to Montreal. Two facts stand out that help to describe...

For Cole, skating with Canes a start
For Erik Cole, it was a start, nothing more or less.
For the first time since suffering his leg fracture, the Canes' forward was back on the ice with his teammates, going through today's morning skate at the RBC Center. Cole wore a gold, non-contact jersey, but he was skating and cutting and getting in some work.
"It was just a pregame skate so we knew it wouldn...
