What If The Rangers Didn’t Draft Jessiman?
Eight years ago, the Rangers selected Hugh Jessiman with the 12th overall pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. The Rangers drafted him over such notables as Dustin Brown, Zach Parise, Brent Seabrook, Ryan Getzlaf, Ryan Kesler, Mike Richards, and Corey Perry. Everyone knows how that turned out, and fans are still complaining about it eight years later. It’s about time to look at...

Hugh Jessiman Finally Gets His Wings, Makes NHL Debut
visual evidence
It's been a long, hard road full of disappointments for Hugh Jessiman. He long carried the dubious distinction of being the only 2003 first rounder not to play a single NHL game. The Rangers selected him 12th overall, ahead of Stanley Cup winners Brent Seabrook, Ryan Getzlaf, and Corey Perry. But that is neither here nor there, Jessiman has finally achieved the...

Devils And Panthers. Quick Preview As Hugh Will Debut.
Hugh Jessiman 2003 Draft. Source: ca.sports.yahoo.com
First off game time is 5:00 P.M. tonight. Something that caught me by surprise this morning. Or should I say that it was caused by a memory lapse? Either way the red hot New Jersey Devils come to town on an 8-1-1 streak in their last 1o games, as they continue an improbable run to the playoffs. Have to hand it to them...

Blackhawks Cut Two Forwards, Roster Down To 31
The Blackhawks made two roster moves today, bringing their roster down to 31 players.
The Blackhawks cut forwards Hugh Jessiman and Ludvig Rensfeldt. Jessiman has been assigned to the AHL’s Rockford Icehogs while Rensfeldt is being sent back to his junior club, Brynas IF, in Sweden.
This leaves the Blackhawks with a roster of 17 forwards, 10 defensemen, and 4 goalies.

Chump to champs
We discussed this to some degree yesterday: The Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks have signed Hugh Jessiman.
Yes, that Hugh Jessiman.
So my thought for today is simple:
What would your reaction be if Jessiman turns out to be a late-blooming legit NHL player?
Or worse, a star?
Yeah, I know. Keep dreaming. He’s there to fill depth on the Blackhawks minor-league...

Happy Campers
So Monday is the opening of the Ranger's prospect development camp which serves several purposes all of which are good ones. It is a great opportunity for the prospects to meet with the Ranger staff, for the Ranger staff to get good looks at the prospects but the best thing that comes from this camp is that each prospect is given a journal to help them improve their development...

Here's what I wrote about Wade Redden in June 2008, when he technically was still under contract to the Ottawa Senators...June 27 - "Don't be duped by him."June 30 - "Wade Redden was bad at 31. How bad is he going to be at 35?"And in July...July 1 - "A history of injury? A poor work ethic? Oh but don't worry, he had one point in the playoffs last...
