Sharks hand 'Hawks seventh straight loss (AP)
Benn Ferriero and Jamie McGinn gave the San Jose Sharks just the spark they needed before heading out on a lengthy trip. Ferriero scored the tiebreaking goal shortly after a fight by McGinn helped change the momentum and McGinn added his own power-play goal to send the Sharks off on their nine-game trip on a winning note, beating the Chicago Blackhawks 5-3 on Friday night.

This happened on Thursday night, but I’m posting it now because I just found it on The Big Lead (h/t to them, by the way). Jamie McGinn of the San Jose Sharks tried to slam Chris Phillips of the Ottawa Senators into the boards. McGinn misses, but then he hit the unlocked entrance door to the ice, which caused it to open.

Jamie McGinn re-signed to a one year contract
The Sharks re-signed left winger Jamie McGinn to a one year contract. The contract is a two-way deal worth $680K in the NHL and $105K in the AHL. If the Sharks want to send him down, he would have to pass through waivers.
