Flyers lose Kimmo Timonen for remainder of playoffs
The Flyers hopes to get past the Penguins and into the Stanley Cup Finals took a huge blow today when their best defenseman, Kimmo Timonen, was diagnosed with a blood clot in his ankle, effectively ending his season. Timonen's ankle felt sore ever since he was hit by a shot during the series with the Canadiens, so he went in for an exam today and the blood clot was discovered...

Flyers trade for Modry
The Flyers, having failed in their attempts to get Tomas Kaberle who would not waive his no-trade clause with Toronto, struck a deal today for Kings defenseman Jaroslav Modry.
The Flyers gave up an undisclosed draft pick.

Jaroslav Modry a Flyer
The Flyers finally made a move to shore up their defense, acquiring Jaroslav Modry, age 36, from the Los Angeles Kings for a third round pick. According to TSN, Modry is a "quietly effective player in the offensive zone" and has "excellent instincts". Looking at Modry's stats the last few years, he doesn't put up big points, but he is usually on the positive...
