The slumping Carolina Hurricanes say leading scorer Jeff Skinner and key defenseman Joni Pitkanen are out indefinitely with concussions.

Pitkanen to miss Panthers game
Defenseman Joni Pitkanen will not play tonight against the Florida Panthers but could return for Saturday's game against Tampa Bay, coach Paul Maurice said today.

Maurice: Pitkanen surgery a 'cleanup'

Canes defenseman Joni Pitkanen will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery and will be sidelined for a couple of weeks, general manager Jim Rutherford said today.
