Assistant coach, James Patrick, is running the session while Lindy Ruff stays off the ice. Ruff suffered broken ribs when he smashed into from behind by Jordan Leopold during a 1-on-1 drill that went horribly wrong when the Buffalo D-man blew a tire and spun out of control.

Ref leaves game after taking puck to face
Referee Kelly Sutherland left Wednesday's game between the Buffalo Sabres and New York Rangers when he was hit in the face by a puck.
Sutherland was hurt just over 5 1/2 minutes into the first period when he was struck by a deflection off a slap shot from Buffalo's Jordan Leopold.
He appeared wobbly and had to be assisted off the ice after being treated by a trainer.

Buffalo Sabres’ Jordan Leopold Returns From Injury
After being missing three games with an upper body injury, Jordan Leopold will return to the Buffalo Sabres lineup against the Florida Panthers.
Leopold was injured in the 29 November game against the New York Islanders, a 1-2 loss.
