DETROIT -- Although Kris Draper couldn't wait to put his No. 33 on again and would be fit and ready for the NHL Alumni Showdown if it took place this week, there's another longtime Red Wings player who fans were hoping to see again.
That player is current Tampa Bay Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman.

Kris Draper Integral To Red Wing’s Success For Almost Two Decades
You don’t get a lot for a dollar. Well, that is not true if you’re a fan of the Detroit Red Wings the past 17 years.
In 1993, the Winnipeg Jets traded Kris Draper to the Red Wings for a dollar ($1.00), which was probably $1.50 in Canadian dollars at the time. I don’t know what Winnipeg’s rationale for that trade amount was. My only memories of the old Winnipeg Jets, before...

Red Wings call news conference with Kris Draper
The Detroit Red Wings have called a news conference with Kris Draper amid reports that the veteran forward will retire.
The 40-year-old Draper helped the Red Wings win four Stanley Cups and was named the NHL's best defensive forward in 2004. But injuries limited him to 47 games and 11 points last season.

Red Wings overnight report: And Draper, too
As we’ve waited for Red Wings GM Ken Holland and goaltender Chris Osgood to sit down and discuss #30’s future in Detroit, we haven’t heard much regarding Kris Draper’s status, but the Free Press’s Helene St. James suggests that in Draper’s case, there very literally isn’t a spot for him on the roster:
“No doubt he wants to play .....

#2 in the Stanley Cup
You can't make stuff like this up. Its one thing to take a tinkle in the Stanley Cup when you're drunk, its quite another to let your little kid in there when they have an "Oops I crapped my pants" Episode.
But that's exactly what happened when the Red Wings Kris Draper put his newborn in there.
How's that for a Stanley Cup first?
