Assessing Lou’s Lone Move
First, let me apologize as I intended to post this write up a few days earlier. With another trade deadline past us and a whole quarter season to go, I feel obliged to share my thoughts on what moves (in this year’s case “move” if you don’t count the Kovalchuk trade) Devils GM Lou Lamoriello made…and didn’t make to prepare his team for the upcoming playoff run. As of...

FLIP THIS SKOULA
Martin Skoula's time in Toronto was pretty short, as he's already been flipped to the New Jersey Devils, where he will be reunited with his former coach in Minnesota, Jacques Lemaire. In return, the Leafs will receive New Jersey's fifth-round pick in 2010.Other than that, deadline day has been pretty quiet so far, with no blockbusters and draft picks involved in each...

Pittsburgh signs D Martin Skoula; Waive 4
Veteran defenseman Martin Skoula, formerly of the Minnesota Wild, has signed a one year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Skoula, 29, was cut from both the Florida Panthers and the Columbus Blue Jackets training camp rosters before landing a contract with Pittsburgh. I'm not really in favor of this move, because this puts Deryk Engelland and Nate Guenin, both of whom are...

It's Tough Being a Cynic
The last few seasons were the glory days for Minnesota Wild bloggers. There were multiple topics we could opine on, make fun of and ridicule the squad about. Shoddy defense? I’d write a long post about the odd-man rushes caused by the inept Martin Skoula. Questionable line switching by the head coach? Thank you, Jacques, I think I will savage you in another blog. No big talent...

Im not the only one that thinks Skoula is a Pylon.
While reading the HockeyWilderness I came across this most accurate description of Martin Skoula and Marc-Andre Bergeron. The two Players (Pylons) are defensive zone nightmares, and I would hate to think on how many times Skoula coughed the puck up that lead to a goal in the defensive zone. I think the Wild should also ban anyone else from ever wearing the number 41 again. On defense...

Cleaning House
Jacques Lemaire…gone. Dougie Risebrough…gone. Martin Skoula…soon. Who next? I think it’s long overdue for the Minnesota Wild to look at new TV guys. Long overdue. Thanks to the NHL Center Ice Package I’m able to watch many hockey games during the season, and that allows me to listen to a wide array of play-by-play guys and analysts. There are the exceptional like Mike Emmerick...
