Marc-Andre Bourdon, Matt Ellis engage in first NHL fights
Wednesday evening saw a first for two NHLers: fighting.
Marc-Andre Bourdon, a 22-year-old Quebec native, a defenceman with the Philadelphia Flyers, dropped the gloves for hist first time in the pros with 30-year-old Matt Ellis, a centre with the Buffalo Sabres.
The fight happened with the Sabres ahead 3-1 in the second period.

Sabres Sign Sekera And Ellis to Multi-Year Deals

Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier today announced that defenseman Andrej Sekera and forward Matt Ellis have each agreed to multi-year contracts.
Sekera (6’0”, 201 lbs., 6/8/1986) appeared in 76 games for the Sabres last season, recording career highs in both assists (26) and points (29). In two playoff games, Sekera added one goal and four penalty minutes.

I like the Matt Ellis recall from Portland. Ellis will get a regular shift in game 6, as the Sabres will be looking to close the show. The Sabres are a sizzling 11-1-2 this season when Ellis plays.
The recall will allow Lindy to play Ellis at centre, which gives Brad Boyes a reprieve to play Jason Pominville's right wing. Boyes has not poroduced offensively in this series...
