RANDY JONES RUMORS & GOSSIP

Randy Jones Is Doing Just Fine in LA, Thank You.

Randy Jones was a defenseman whose play I thought got a bad rap in Philly for the most part, probably for two reasons: (1) he was overpaid for his skill level and ability to contribute; and (2) lower-line defensemen always are. They're like the middle relief of hockey—almost never good enough to keep everyone satisfied for very long, but still important to the overall success...

Randy Jones clears waivers, Flyers to ship him to the Phantoms

Randy Jones wasn't worth 2.75 million to the Flyers or to anyone else in the NHL. The defenseman, who the Flyers waived on Friday, has cleared waivers today and will been sent to the Phantoms in the next few days. The move automatically gives the Flyers 2.75 million dollars under the cap, money that will be used to sign Blair Betts and ensures that James van Riemsdyk will start...

Randy Jones Waived

Just a quick update to yesterday's post—Randy Jones has indeed been placed on waivers by the Flyers, so says Tim Panaccio of CSNPhilly.com. There's talk that the Rangers might be interested in him, but they too are up against the cap. We'll update the story when we find out whether Jones clears or is claimed.

Flyers to say goodbye to Jones, hello to Betts?

Fans have been calling for it for months and they may finally get their wish. According to the Daily News, the Flyers are going to release Randy Jones this weekend in order to free up salary. Jones is set to make 2.75 million dollars this year, so waiving him would clear up some valuable cap space to sign forward Blair Betts, who has earned his way onto the team with his solid...

Is This the Timely End of Randy Jones as a Flyer?

After more than a season of numerous fans wondering how Randy Jones continued to have a roster spot with the Flyers, it sounds as if his career in Philly may be coming to an end. Anthony SanFillipo has tweeted that a team source tells him that Jones will be waived either today or tomorrow. I've never really had a problem with Jones aside from his salary. I don't think he is half...

Flyers officially sign Tollefsen, goodbye Randy Jones?

As expected, the Flyers have signed defenseman Ole-Kristian Tollefsen. Tollefsen was in Philly a few days ago getting checked out by the Flyers training staff, and as long as he checked out, the team was going to sign him. He signed a one year deal with the Flyers, but his salary has not been announced. Tollefsen made $675,000 with the Blue Jackets last season, so I would expect...

Bruins Patrice Bergeron injury update: Feeling better

Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron continues to improve from injuries resulting from the hit by Flyers defenseman Randy Jones six weeks ago. But should he risk coming back too soon?

Jones Suspended Two Games

Personally I don't think the hit even warranted a suspension, I think Campbell had to issue some type of suspension to appease other parties involved (by "other parties", I mean Bruins management). Given that, I find it fair but not everyone does (by "not everyone" I mean the Flyers management).
