1,200 and counting for Coyotes' Whitney
Ray Whitney will play his 1,200th NHL game tonight against Detroit. If my calculations are correct, hes one of just 91 players to achieve that milestone.
That doesnt mean he has a bottle of champagne at the ready in the Coyotes locker room.
A thousand is the big one, Whitney said. After that, it just means youre getting old.
It also means youve stayed healthy and youre pretty...

Would the Rangers Tool Up At the Deadline?
The Rangers’ impressive record suggests they may already be contenders this season for hockey’s biggest prize. That would point to the likelihood that they would be buyers (and certainly not sellers) when the league’s feeding frenzy arrives in a few short weeks.
The Rangers have good depth, an all world goalie and a deep defense (when all are healthy). That said there are still...

Whitney enjoys productive return
Ray Whitney's north Raleigh neighborhood was easy to spot. Maybe even from space. Wearing bright neon green T-shirts with Whitney's No. 13 on them, the former Hurricanes forward enjoyed significant support in his return to the RBC Center on Wednesday with the Phoenix Coyotes.
It could hardly have gone better for Whitney: He scored Phoenix's first goal and forced the turnover...

Monday debate: Ray Whitney
Ray Whitney says he likes living in Raleigh and playing for the Canes. The Canes say they like Whitney and what the veteran winger brings to the team.
So what now? Will the Canes try to re-sign Whitney, who turns 38 next month? Will they go in another direction and sign another free-agent forward, or trade for one? Or replace Whitney with one of the young guys?
What would you...
