STATS: The inevitable Paul Martin vs Sergei Gonchar comparsion
This one is tough. Gonch was an aging defenseman. He came off a not-so solid playoff ( see Travis Moen's goal in game 7)
Paul Martin was the puck moving defenseman from the New Jersey Devils. He was younger, much less of a risk.

Senators D Gonchar scratched vs. Sabres
Ottawa Senators defenseman Sergei Gonchar was a late scratch from Saturday's game against the Buffalo Sabres after being hit by a puck during warmups.
The team said Gonchar was held out as a precaution. Brian Lee took Gonchar's spot in the lineup.
The 17-year veteran has two goals and 19 assists this season.
The Senators are currently tied for second in the Northeast standings.

Senators D Gonchar questionable vs. Canucks
Ottawa Senators defenseman Sergei Gonchar is listed as questionable against the Vancouver Canucks Saturday.
Gonchar left Thursday’s game against the New Jersey Devils with a upper-body injury. The Senators had the day off Friday and the team did not give any updates on Gonchar’s status.
Gonchar has two goals and 17 assists for Ottawa this season.

Hamhuis or Gonchar…or Both?
When I heard that the Pens had acquired Dan Hamhuis from Philadelphia for a 2011 draft pick, I naturally assumed they were going to sign him and part ways with Sergei Gonchar. But signing Hamhuis isn’t a given – just ask the Flyers. And, apparently, saying good-bye to Gonchar isn’t a foregone conclusion either.
It looks like the Pens are going to attempt to sign both players...
