Richard Cloutier: No Nuge is Good Nuge...If You're Chicago
A brief blog before tonight's Hawks/Oilers game.
No Roster Changes
The Oilers are going with the same roster as they did against the Colorado Avalanche. That means center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and defensemen Tom Gilbert and Cam Barker will all technically be out with injuries. Apparently. Nuge and Barker are ready to go, but Oilers Coaches want to make 100% sure they are healthy...

On Wednesday, Carcillo learned his fate, and he is definitely suspended for seven games, NHL vice president of player safety Brendan Shanahan announced. Dan Carcillo Injures Tom Gilbert, Himself With Violent Boarding Hit (Video)
Dan Carcillo's New Year's resolution was apparently not to avoid making illegal hits. On Monday, Carcillo and Edmonton Oilers defenseman Tom Gilbert were chasing after a puck in the Oilers' defensive end when Carcillo caught Gilbert from behind and shoved him violently into the boards, injuring the defenseman on the play and drawing a penalty. Carcillo was given a five minute major...

Dan Carcillo Likely Headed Towards Suspension After Hit On Tom Gilbert
The Blackhawks headed into Monday’s game looking to get a little bit of revenge for the 9-2 drubbing that these Edmonton Oilers handed them earlier this season.
They didn’t do that. The Hawks lost 4-3 in a game that proved frustrating on a variety on fronts, special teams being the star of that one. But after a solid start, Dan Carcillo took away any momentum that the...

Imitation
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. If this is the case, I think the Boston Bruis should prepare to be flattered this summer. The Oilers appear to be getting ready to add some energy to the 4th line, shore up the blue with a veteran to replace Vandermeer/Strudwick--and one that can perhaps play more minutes in critical situations, and a center who can win faceoffs. Hell...

RE 10-11: Tom Gilbert
I'm a fan of Tom Gilbert. He's a quality NHL player, and even better Gilbert has all of the frustrating development years behind him. Gone are the college days, and gone too are the "adjusting to the speed of the NHL game" and we are left with a very good hockey player.Skilled? Yes. Healthy? Yes. Wide range of skills? God bless him. I don't know what most people...

Oilers at Wild, G56, 09-10
There are whispers afoot regarding the Edmonton Oilers and defenseman Tom Gilbert. I regard this as a rumor most foul, considering it would be an extreme example of selling low. Tom Gilbert is not having a good season, in fact this is the worst season (by my eye) of his NHL career. Why then would I consider this a bad time to deal off a defenseman with a very healthy cap hit?Tom...
