Devils and Rangers Start Game Off With A Bang
Just two seconds after the puck dropped, Cam Janssen and Eric Boulton of the Devils and Mike Rupp and Brandon Prust decided to put on a show simultaneously for the crowd at Madison Square Garden that night. Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record reports that when the Devils Eric Boulton was fined $2,500 for his slash on Mike Rupp Tuesday night, he was told that the unpenalized infraction broke the Ranger tough guy's thumb.Rupp, who played just six minutes last night in Buffalo, admitted to Gross that his thumb was "banged up" and that today's off-day would be a good one...

New Jersey Devils forward Eric Boulton and Columbus Blue Jackets forward Jared Boll have been fined $2,500 by the NHL on Wednesday.
Boulton slashed New York Rangers forward Mike Rupp early in the second period of the Devils' 4-3 shootout win over New York on Tuesday. He was not penalized in the game.

NEW YORK—New Jersey Devils forward Eric Boulton has been fined $2,500, the maximum allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for slashing New York Rangers forward Mike Rupp in NHL Game No. 737 in New Jersey on Tuesday, Jan. 31, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.
