Avs acquire Ducks D Newton for D Cumisky (AP)

The Colorado Avalanche traded defenseman Kyle Cumiskey to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for defenseman Jake Newton and a conditional draft pick Saturday. Cumiskey had nine goals and 26 assists in parts of four seasons with the Avalanche. Taken in the seventh round of the 2005 draft, Cumiskey was assigned to the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League on Wednesday and waived Friday.
