The 2008 Number 1 AFL Draft Pick

The 2008 AFL Season has just begun but it is already clear who the number 1 pick in this year's draft will be. In fact, it was almost certain at the end of last year, prior to last year's draft.

Remember this name, Nicholas Naitanui, because there is a very strong chance it will be the first one read out at the end of the year.

Nicholas is already playing senior football in the WAFL for Swan Districts, and has already been voted best on ground this season, in his first year. [Freak of Naita excites Dees]

Carlton confirmed that Naitanui would have been a certain number 1 this year had he been eligible, but he was 2 days under age eligibility. Nicholas faced off against Carlton's Number 1 pick Matthew Kruezer in the Under 18 Championships last year, with Naitanui winning the battle.

The 17 year old 196cm running ruckman is certain to smash records at this years draft camp, as his vertical leap is said to be enormous.

This will please current bottom placed team Melbourne, who without a win this season will get the number 1 pick. Their current ruckmen Jeff White is approaching the end of his career, and Naitanui could be the solution in the upcoming years.

Naitanui already has representation with Melbourne based Paul Connors of Connors Sports Management. Nicholas has a chosen a good agent in Connors; he also represents Chris Judd.
