African-American polo team wins national title

If the Fresh Prince of Bel Air played polo the intro of the show would have gone something like this: “In West Philadelphia born and raised, on the Polo Grounds is where I spent most of my days.” Alas, the Fresh Prince did not have an affinity for the game, however a current group of kids from West Philly do. . Philadelphia’s Cowtown-Work to Ride team made history Sunday when they became the first all African-American team to win the Polo National Championship. The team beat out a squad from Baltimore 24-17 to win the honors. . Team captain Kareem Rosser took home top honors from the tournament. Of the accomplishment Rosser said: “You know, not only did we do it for each other, but we did it for the polo community, and we did it for every other African American young boy who comes from where we come from.” .
