Signing Day Odds And Ends
Kozan vision quest. No one really knows, but my "Kozan" twitter search turned this up:
"Empty-handed I entered the world, Barefoot I leave it. My coming, my going -- Two simple happenings, That got entangled." - Kozan Ichikyo
Whoah.
Depending on who you listen to, Iowa is out or Michigan is out or Auburn is out. My favorite is this guy:

Steelers 2012 Team Needs: Guard
This has been the position of need since Alan Faneca left the organization. We have filled it with undrafted guys and late round picks that have done their best but never really panned out. It is also a position though that could be very easy to fill this upcoming season. There are quite a few good guards in the draft and free agency. While it may not be our biggest need...

The BB and G 2012 Draft Board is Up
Now that all the underclassmen have declared and it is under 100 days until the draft the draft board has been posted. The next three months this will be a fluid board with updated rankings after more film study, the combine and the Senior Bowl. The draft is a great time of year. Though I wish we were playing still I love this part of the process.
These are rankings for these...

Chemistry Isn't the Jets' Biggest Problem
The concept of chemistry on a professional sports team is always a difficult one to fully wrap your head around.
Our current football landscape is a pretty good example of that. The Jets are being called a dysfunctional trainwreck by everyone in town for their 8-8 season while Tom Coughlin is being hailed as a man who knows how to keep a team together by pushing all the right buttons...

Rest In Peace “Ground and Pound”
Goodbye my good friend.
New York Jets “Ground and Pound”, it was a damn good run my friend. Two solid years of intimidating defense and a powerful run game, enough to strike fear into the hearts of opponents. But now in 2011, our dear friend Ground and Pound has taken it’s last breath. We’ll now begin with the funeral procession.
We’re gathered here today, to mourn in...

2-2 Is Not Time For New York Jets To Panic
Rex Ryan is right. It is time to return to the Ground and Pound, to smashing mouths and putting hats on people. Even if just to rev up a team that for the past two weeks has not only lost games, but has been beaten up emotionally and physically. Despite falling to 2-2 after getting knocked around in Oakland and Baltimore, the Jets still have time to get where they want to go...

If Turner’s Out: What Now?
With the bad news today that the Jets could be missing out on their primary backup lineman through the end of October, what are the Jets options? At this point they can either shelve him for the year by placing him on the IR, or keep him active, so that the team can use him later in the season. The PUP list is no longer an option for Turner, since he participated in team activities...

O-Line: If it ain't broke, still tweak it
FLORHAM PARK, NJ -- Continuity plays a huge role in football, no question. But for an offensive line? Continuity is nearly everything -- having trust in the guys next to you to call out any last minute protection slides, reading what the defense gives you and knowing if they have to pick up an extra pass rusher or not.Last year the big question mark was Matt Slauson. Can a second...

Cardinals To Seriously Pursue Free-Agent Help At O-Line, D-Line
Pro Football Weekly hears that a concerted effort could be in the offing for the Cardinals to add free-agent linemen on both sides of the ball. “No question,” one team insider said. “I could see people in one board room concentrating solely on quarterbacks, and another room working mainly on linemen. On the offensive line, they could possibly be looking to fill all three interior...

On the Steelers: Faneca was a rare breed
The retirement of Alan Faneca from pro football brought a Tweet from colleague Dale Lolley, who covers the Steelers for the Observer-Reporter of Washington, Pa. "Big Red calling it quits makes me feel old," Lolley wrote. Dear Dale, Lynn Swann calling it quits made me feel old, and he retired after the 1982 season. Swann is half a year younger than I am.
