The Utah Jazz can defend. Since trading Enes Kanter and inserting Rudy Gobert into the starting five at the deadline last season, Quin Snyder’s team has undergone a startling transformation. Utah Jazz Weekly: Jazz come up short

The Utah Jazz battled this last week but ended up losing three and winning just one. Despite their losses they played well as a team and improved a lot. Unfortunately at the end of the day your record doesn’t reveal if it was a close game or not but just if it was a win or loss. And they lost three of four this week. The week that was Tuesday night they fought hard but barely...

Utah Jazz: Burks vs Hood

The Arrival Of Alec Burks

Look at the offseason rankings. The Utah Jazz are near the bottom of almost all of them. They decided to go for a more conservative approach, re-signing some bench players, bringing over some international players, and banking on development. Many have claimed this wasn't enough for an improving Jazz team to take the leap necessary to make the playoffs and that they made no big...

Utah Jazz beat Lakers 90-71 in first preseason game

The Utah Jazz ran away with it in the final minutes, beating the L.A. Lakers 90-71 in Honolulu. Both teams used their expected starting lineups in the 1st and 3rd quarters, and then emptied their benches. Both teams played 13 players. Some observations: The shooting isn’t there yet. The Jazz aren’t known to have many dead-eye shooters, but they need the backcourt to catch up...

Alec Burks on competing with Rodney Hood: 'We all want to be the starter'

Before the Utah Jazz can think about taking the next step and competing for a playoff berth in the Western Conference, the team needs to settle on a rotation. Return of Alec Burks spells good news for the Jazz

Injuries are awful, on a personal and team level. And when a player loses an entire season, there's not much silver lining to be found in such a dark cloud. But if any team is well-prepared to bounce back from a big loss, it's the Utah Jazz. With young talent in surplus and prospects ready to take the next step forward, it doesn't have to be the end of the world in Utah. That's doubly...

Alec Burks could be the breakout hit for the Utah Jazz this season

Can the combo guard help lead Utah back to the playoffs? From 1983 to 2003, the Utah Jazz made 20 consecutive playoff appearances. Led by Deron Williams in his prime, the Jazz qualified for four straight postseasons from 2006 to 2010. Historically, it is safe to say the Jazz have been one of the staples of the Western Conference postseason picture, but a series of moves, involving...

Who should start at shooting guard for the Utah Jazz?

As I wrote last week, the Utah Jazz still have some tough decisions to make in regards to finalizing their roster and deciding which of their non-guaranteed players will receive an official spot on the team. In contrast to the final roster spots, however, their starting lineup is nearly all set. The Jazz had a phenomenal finish last season and have been very quiet in free agency...

Alec Burks is eager to return to the Jazz

Shoulder surgery forced Alec Burks to miss the Jazz' final 51 games this season. For Burks, the blow of the surgery was at least somewhat softened by the fact that he'd just signed a new contract extension with the team. Still, it wasn't easy for him to sit on the sidelines as his team experienced the many highs and lows of the rebuilding process. It's understandable that Burks is...
