Alfredo Amezaga- It was a great story when the Marlins reacquired one of the all time biggest fan favorite players, Alfredo Amezaga, from Colorado last month, unfortunately the story does not have a happy ending. The Florida Marlins have acquired Alfredo Amezaga from the Colorado Rockies for Jesus Merchan, Joe Capozzi of The Palm Beach Post reports. In a parallel move, Florida designated Joe Thurston for assignment.

The Rockies on Saturday made more moves to help shore up their farm system, trading infielder Alfredo Amezaga to the Florida Marlins for minor-league infielder Jesus Merchan.
Amezaga will return to the team he played for from 2006-09.
Merchan this season for the Triple-A New Orleans Zephyrs is hitting .268 in 58 games, with 1 home run and 17 RBIs. He also has 18 strikeouts.
