Earlier today, the Blackhawks finally made a move to get under the salary cap, and it required trading away defenseman Nick Leddy and Goaltender Kent Simpson in which they received three players from the New York Islanders in return.
Who are the players the Blackhawks received?
Anders Nilsson – Goalie

Nick Leddy has been traded to the New York Islanders for defensemen Ville Pokka and TJ Brennan and goaltender Anders Nilsson. Leddy, 23, leaves the Blackhawks organization with 93 points (20 goals, 73 assists) in 258 regular season games. He … Continue reading →

Fans of the Chicago Blackhawks knew it was coming. The Blackhawks needed to get under the salary cap before the start of the 2014-15 season and it looks like Nick Leddy was the one that had to go.
This tweet from Chris Kuc started all the speculation that a trade was coming very soon;
#Blackhawks have recalled defenseman Klas Dahlbeck from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey...
Last season the Islanders were a good team whose playoff hopes were torpedoed by shoddy goaltending. They had the 3rd worst combined save percentage 5 on 5 thanks to the underwhelming efforts of Evgeni Nabokov, Anders Nilsson, and Kevin Poulin. All three goaltenders had a GSAA (goals saved above average) of -9.5 or worse; that’s continue reading...

Florida is missing some key things in their organization. My list as I see it:
1. A # 1 Defenseman. Someone to munch minutes, kill penalties and stop the bleeding

So many times this season, the Philadelphia Flyers were trying to come from behind. Finally, on Monday, they were protecting a third-period lead.
But the New York Islanders fierce rally showed the Flyers what it's like on the other side. Two power-play goals...

Last Game for the Penguins: Tuesday, a 3-2 win over the New York Islanders. The Islanders scored twice three minutes apart in the first period. The Penguins did not answer until the end of the second period when James Neal got his ninth goal of the year on the power play. Sidney Crosby tied the game at 8:00 of the third period, also on the power...
Sidney Crosby scored the tying goal in the third period and then won it with a brilliant individual effort 3:44 into overtime as the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the New York Islanders 3-2 on Tuesday night.
Crosby, who tied it with a power-play goal with 12:00 left in regulation, stole the puck from Thomas Vanek just outside the New York blue line, streaked down the middle between two...
