Flyers Roster Updates
Zac Rinaldo and Andreas Lilja are in tonight. Danny Briere, who won't play, participated in the morning skate today and told Randy Miller that he feels a little better: "I felt good today. I was able to push myself fairly hard on the ice at practice, which is a good sign. I haven’t had any contact, but I felt better than yesterday, so that’s a good sign"

Morning Buzz: A Miracle In The Making?
The Eagles destroyed the Jets. They looked a lot like the team we all thought they were going to be in the offseason. They played, fast, tough, and did not make too many mental mistakes. The effort was apparent. With that said, they need a lot of help to sneak into the playoffs.
Here is your Morning Buzz:
The Eagles dominated the Jets, and won 45-19.

Pronger’s Injury May Require Outside Help
While rookies Marc-Andre Bourdon and Kevin Marshall have filled in admirably for the last week, without defenseman Chris Pronger and Andreas Lilja for at least the next 4 weeks, will probably mean the Flyer’s will look to add a defenseman via trade or free agency. The Flyer’s need to acquire a defenseman who can replace [...]

Game 11: Devils Find Their Way Back, Beat Flyers in a Shootout
Give the NJ Devils credit because they fell into a 2-0 hole to a very good Flyers team but were able to battle back and find a way to send the game to OT and eventually the shootout, where they skated away with a 4-3 victory.
I thought NJ played a decent first period and didn’t allow the Flyers to find the back of the net but that obviously didn’t sit well with Philly as they...

Bryzgalov Solid As Early Goals Propel Flyers to 3-2 Win Over Sabres
The Flyers and Sabres battled tonight for the first time since their first-round playoff war last season, which lasted the full seven games.
The Flyers won this battle 3-2 to move to 7-4-2 on the season.
Sean Couturier opened up the scoring early in this contest, throwing a rebound off of an Andreas Lilja shot into the net just 1:43 seconds into the first period. The league’s highest...

Flyers Visit Montreal to Face-Off Against Struggling Canadiens
The Flyers will look to build on their win over the Toronto Maple Leafs earlier this week as they take on another team from north of the border; the Montreal Canadiens.
Goaltender Carey Price (.878 Save %, 3.13 GAA) and newcomer Eric Cole (1G, 1A, minus 4) have really struggled as the Canadiens are off to an abysmal 1-5-2 start this season. Their only win came against the Winnipeg...

Tim Panaccio: Here and There With Flyers
OTTAWA _ So what's the bigger news concerning the Flyers today?
That Sergei Bobrovsky will make his first start of the season in Ottawa?
That Matt Walker will replace Andreas Lilja?
That Harry Zolnierczyk was called up in case Andreas Nodl can't play.
Why Harry over Brayden Schenn? Because the Flyers didn't have enough cap space, that's why.
Or is...

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Expectations for Lilja
When free agency opened on July 1, the Flyers added three players (Jaromir Jagr, Max Talbot and Andreas Lilja) who are the owners of at least one Stanley Cup ring. Of the three acquisitions, the signing of Lilja was the one that got the most indifferent response.
I agree with those who would have preferred to see the Flyers re-sign Sean O'Donnell (who signed a one-year...

Free Agency Day 2011: A Review
Holy hockey happenings, Batman!
Today marked the beginning of NHL free agency. And although it took a little bit of time for the proverbial ball to get rolling, the league saw plenty of action. Naturally (as one might assume) one of the league’s busiest teams was the Philadelphia Flyers.

Philadelphia Flyers Stun Again With Jagr – Who’s In and Who’s Out?
The Philadelphia Flyers blew up the team last week. Today, the first day of free agency in the NHL, was supposed to be the day that the Flyers began to put the team back together. Everything Is Happening! Flyers Sign Jagr, Lilja, Talbot – Trade Versteeg – Want Brad Richards
When it comes to the Philadelphia Flyers, you really should expect pretty much anything to happen. Over the last week, the Flyers said goodbye to Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, Darroll Powe, and Dan Carcillo.
