Anibal Sanchez, 2012 Fantasy Sleeper
Have you heard I like Anibal Sanchez this year? No? What rock have you been living under? Does your rock have an address? Do you get mail addressed to “Rock?” If someone throws a rock onto your street, does it confuse the postman? Do you ever get mail that’s meant for The Rock that accidentally finds its way to your rock? I have rock questions. I...

Player Profile #131: Anibal Sanchez | SP | MIA
Despite finishing just 167th in each of the last two seasons, Anibal Sanchez made major improvements in 2011. Take a look at his strikeout and walk rates if you don’t believe me. Last year Sanchez struck out over a batter an inning en route to 202 strikeouts on the year. He would have ranked inside the top 100 had he finished with the 13-15 wins we’d expect from a pitcher...

Miami Marlins notes: Cespedes, A. Sanchez, JC Oviedo, tickets, aquariums
As crews began rolling out sod on the Marlins Park infield Thursday, team president David Samson addressed several player- and stadium-related issues.
Yoenis Cespedes: Samson was unsure whether Cespedes, a Cuban defector who recently gained his Dominican residency, would visit South Florida at some point before signing. Major League Baseball has granted Cespedes’ free agent...

The Evaporating Season of Anibal Sanchez
According to Fangraphs, Anibal Sanchez was the 26th most valuable starting pitcher in baseball last season. He finished with eight wins. Somewhere, someone is shouting, "He just doesn't know how to win!" But seriously, to put Sanchez's season in context (if you believe WAR), Sanchez was just a tick less valuable than Zack Greinke in 2011. Greinke won sixteen games...

NL East: A Fascinating Place: Marlins
This is the third post in a series looking at the newly fascinating National League East Division. In the first two installments, the Phillies were given the top spot they deserve until some team dethrones them. They have been the king. The Braves finished a distant second last season with a fade at the end but were found to be capable of winning 95 games if everything goes according...

Could the Mets Benefit from a Crowded Free Agent Pitching Market in 2013?
The Mets rotation, for better or for worse, is set for 2012: Santana (or replacement), Pelfrey, Dickey, Gee and Niese. The Mets also look between the end of this year and 2014 to add several young pitchers, like Familia, Harvey, Wheeler and maybe Mejia.
So I wonder if the Mets could benefit from what will be a crowded All-Star pitching Free Agent market next season. With Edwin Jackson...

Sanchez and Marlins stifle Pittsburgh
Anibal Sanchez had one of those great games that he usually comes up with at least once or twice a month, but in those few great games that he pitches, the Marlins either lose or Sanchez gets a no decision in the win, Saturday was different. Sanchez threw a one-hit complete game shutout on the way to a 3-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Marlins’ Anibal Sanchez Shows Off His Shiny New Strikeouts
While perusing the FanGraphs Team Pitching Totals page I was surprised to see the Marlins so high up on the FIP leader list. They’re ranked as 9th best in all of baseball. This is mostly a surprise because after the loss of their ace, Josh Johnson, I assumed that the pitching would certainly struggle. After Javier Vazquez’s (3.57 [...]
