Carter had no regrets from time in Miami
MIAMI - A dozen years later, nothing has changed. Whenever Anthony Carter returns to Miami, he hears about the shot.
In the waning seconds of overtime in Game 3 of the 2000 Eastern Conference semifinals at New York, the then Heat point guard drove baseline and released a crazy shot that appeared to go from behind the backboard and over. It hung on the rim and fell through with 2...

Toronto will be terrible.
The following post uses the Wins Produced metric. During the long offseason Dave Berri took a little time to tweak it a little. You can find all of the numbers for last decade or so here, as well as a handy tutorial!
It’s opening day as I write this, so now’s a good time to get my Raptors prediction out there. Numbers first, with an explanation to follow:

Mega Man
by Adam Figman | @afigman
If you’re a hip-hop enthusiast who prefers gritty street lyricism to trendy, new-age fashion rap, we hope you’re already plenty familiar with New York MC Cormega. And though you also should be aware of the solid catalog of albums that highlights his impressive résumé, you might not know that Mega is an intense hoophead as well, having played...

Excellence of Execution Rests in Rivers
"They're not doing anything they haven't done all series. We let our guard down! And it's clear, that we gotta go get it! We know it's going to be hard anyway, we caused this ... we gotta go get it!" - (Doc Rivers to his team after the Knicks and the corpse of Anthony Carter gave them a scare in Game 4.)
The Celtics responded ... emphatically. Thanks to Doc Rivers.

The NBA Reset: 4/27/2011
The early rounds of the NBA playoffs have been a whirlwind. Great performances, dramatic twists (ankles mostly) and a few shockers. So how can we keep track of these innumerable story lines that are threading together to form the tapestry of the 2011 NBA championship? Well friends, that's what the NBA Reset is for.
Let us begin with the starting five:
1. On the Ropes

A Look Forward
by Skyzoo
Wassup world, it’s Skyzoo checking in for week 2 of my Chain Link Champions blog series for SLAM. As stated last week, I’ll be here every Wednesday recapping the League’s events of the week prior, as well as chiming in with my views and takes on what’s been played. With that being said, it’s with great sadness that I begin to write the entry...

It's a Shame We Can't Combine Knicks, Rangers
The Knicks and Rangers wound up turning in remarkably similar seasons. Both teams revived lagging support for their teams by winning more than they had the year before and raised hopes about better days to come in the not too distant future. Each team embodied the best and worst parts of the philosophies espoused by their coaches and wound up in the playoffs at the end of the season...

Anthony Carter's Heroics Not Enough as Knicks Lose in Playoffs
With no Chauncey Billups and an Amar'e Stoudemire who probably wasn't fit enough to take the court during most of games two through four, it's understandable how the Knicks would easily fall to the Celtics, who held the top seed in the East for much of the season. The Celtics put an end to the Knicks' injury misery, as well as their season, with a 101-89 loss on Easter...

NBA Round-Up: The Knicks Are Done
I’m only recapping yesterday’s games, despite the fact that Saturday’s games were great. Holy choke job, Dallas. Maybe if Mark Cuban spent less time Tweeting about Shark Tank and more time keeping an eye on his team, the Mavericks wouldn’t be coached like an all-girls AAU squad. Also, good job, Pacers. It was nice to see a few teams show some balls and stand their ground…...

A WHOLE Lot Better
I gotta admit: I was impressed. After calling the Celtics out after the first two games for playing down to their vastly inferior competition, Boston put on a flawless Game 3 performance and a stellar Game 4 showing, to sweep their vastly inferior opponent.
I was anticipating a hostile crowd (check) of belligerent Knick fans (check) who certainly at some point in time if you began...

Backcourt woes seal Knicks' fate
With Chauncey Billups sidelined, Toney Douglas faced the daunting tasks of dealing with Rajon Rondo and running the point for the Knicks yesterday in Game 4 of their first-round clash with the Celtics. Douglas failed at both, eventually getting pulled for Anthony Carter in a move that proved too little...

Spring Cleaning…Celtics sweep Knicks 101-89
The Boston Celtics don’t exactly make sense. After finishing the regular season 10-11 in their final 21 games and limping into the playoffs against a dangerous Knicks team, the Celtics come out of the first round smelling like roses sweeping New York 4-0 behind a 101-89 victory. Kevin Garnett helped thwart a late Knick spurt by scoring 26 points and grabbing 10 rebounds with...

Knicks lay Easter egg; Celtics sweep it away
I knew Anthony Carter would lead a comeback, I just didn’t know when. Superstars rarely fade without a fight. But not even Carter’s onslaught (of sorts) and his teammates’ surge of energy could get New York back into the game. Not after a first half that was more surgery than blowout. If Friday night was extraordinary, with Paul Pierce and Ray Allen combining to...

Carter makes point as comeback kid
Anthony Carter was not ready to go out quietly. A throw-in in the Knicks' trade with the Nuggets for Carmelo Anthony, the veteran guard did not want his short tenure in New York to end with the Celtics abusing the Knicks at the Garden.

A Four Game Sweep In 2.25 Games
Well, so much for that. Boston finished the sweep of the mostly lifeless Knicks, who played about 12 minutes of inspired basketball in a mostly dispiriting loss today. Without the bench heroics of Anthony Carter, there would have been no drama at all in this one, and for vast portions of the game, the telecast crew could barely bring them to discuss the actual game they were watching...

Recap: Celtics complete mercy kill of Knicks
Three days ago, the world was wondering what was wrong with the Celtics? They were a team of aging veterans lucky to have survived the first two games of their playoff series with NY.
They certainly don't look like championship contenders, said the impulsive and ill-informed.
Seventy-two hours later, the Celtics dismantled the Knicks in successive games...

Celtics Close Out Knicks, Advance To Round 2
Amare Stoudemire played, but the Knicks lost anyways. The Boston Celtics took down their East Coast rivals 101-89 in a deciding Fame 4 of the opening round series.
Kevin Garnett scored a team-high 26 points on 10-16 shooting. 20 of those came in the 2nd half, and #5 also grabbed 10 boards.
Rajon Rondo added 21 points and 12 assists and Ray Allen (14), Glen Davis (14), and Paul...

Very Unimpressed
I've learned something these first 2 playoff games: the Celtics aren't winning the championship this season. See I didn't really think that around mid-February. But a certain trade killed the moral of this team.
These first two games have been utterly pathetic. There was a point in the 3rd quarter last night where Carmelo Anthony was on the floor with Bill Walker...

Billups Downgraded to Out for Game 2
Mr. Big Shot will not be making any big shots tonight, as he was downgraded to out for Game 2 just 90 minutes before tipoff, coach Mike D'Antoni announced. Billups landed awkwardly on his left knee in the fourth quarter of Game 1 and the team is calling it a "strained left knee." Billups is scheduled to have an MRI on the same knee tomorrow in New York.

Knicks Keys To Winning Game Two
After a heartbreaking loss Sunday to the Celtics, the Knicks look to bounce back and even up the series at 1 apiece Tuesday night. The Knicks played, arguably, their best defensive game of the season Sunday night. Knicks held the Celtics to 39 first half points and had a 12 point lead after two quarters. Many analysts gave the Knicks little chance to beat the Celtics without...

Chauncey Billups hurt his left leg in the final minute of the New York Knicks' 87-85 loss on Sunday night and wasn't sure if he would be able to play in Game 2 of their playoff series against the Boston Celtics. Billups was replaced by Anthony Carter with 51 seconds left and the game tied at 82.

VIDEO: Anthony Carter Gives Ronnie Brewer a Surprise Hernia Exam
Up and to the left Anthony…up and to the left.
What you got here is the Bulls Ronnie Brewer fighting for a loose ball during Chicago’s 103-90 win over New York, when the Knicks Anthony Carter comes in and gets a handful of ball himself. Only problem was, the ball Carter got his hand on belonged to Brewer, as you can clearly see in the photo above.
