Random Athlete Of The Day- God Shammgod

Before there was God’s Gift Achiuwa, there was God Shammgod. God played High School basketball at La Salle Academy in Manhattan, where he was obviously omnipotent and dominant. God made the McDonald’s All-American Team with star caliber players like Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Vince Carter, Chauncy Billups, Kevin Garnett, Antawn Jamison, Stephon Marbury, Paul Pierce, and…...

Getting to know the Providence Friars

No. 9 Notre Dame will look to bounce back from their first loss in over a month when they play Providence on the road tonight. The Irish were riding a 7-game win streak before falling apart in the second half against West Virginia on Saturday afternoon. The traditional “rebound” after getting out of a rough relationship is usually a less attractive, likeable date. And the same...

Shammgod Shows Sammy How To Ball

If you asked me if the 1997 Providence College team that featured God Shammgod and Austin Croshere had a special place in my basketball shaped heart? I would ask you if Oliver Miller love cookies. Of course, the answers to both of these questions is yes! The good people at Converse are making sure we all still get our fix of God, by employing him to do what he does and that’s to...

Croshere back for 2nd career

Austin Croshere never had a problem voicing his opinion during his 12-year NBA playing career. He was one of the best quotes inside the Indiana Pacers' locker room because he explained what happened in detail. He didn't shy from the truth. And he avoided giving the standard cliche responses that some athletes tend to use.

Reggie Miller: A lover, not a fighter

I've already described how popular Reggie Miller is with the ladies. And it's a good thing that's the case...because he won't be ready to join the UFC circuit any time soon. It's not surprising, really. The dude's arms look like a couple old pipe cleaners wrapped in boot leather. You know why he teaches children to read? So they'll help him with all the jars he can't open. Look,...

Dumb Luck

by Amos Barshad The Contract-Year Signing is a well-established phenomena: a chronically underachieving player puts the pieces together in the last year of his deal and, conveniently enough, his boosted numbers are enough for a desperate team to throw way too much money at him. The player then goes right back to underachieving. But there’s another, rarer NBA phenomenon by which...

Biedrins Out Tonight; Law Doubtful

Andris Biedrins had an appendectomy Thursday night. He'll obviously miss tonight's game. Tim Kawakami considers what that means for the Golden State rotation: That either means a lot more Chris Webber or a little more of Webber and much more of Patrick O'Bryant and Austin Croshere.Or, gee willickers,...

Warriors enter the den and survive dance with T-Wolves

Monta Ellis started hot but needed Stephen Jackson to put away a resilient Minnesota team in the Target center. Antoine Walker was big off the bench but couldn't overcome the Warrior's advantage in the backcourt. Jackson Ellis and Baron Davis out scored the top three Timberwolf guards 60-27.

Back to the future Warriors edition.

Okay, Doc has the Delorean gassed up and the Mr. Fusion is good. The lightning storm is on and it's game time. So what happens? A Sunday nighter at the Oracle and the offense goes flat in the first. Worse, it's the Pacers. And the return of Doogie Dunleavy and Murph. Okay, so I'm not sure that I really subscribe to all of the booing of the ex Dubs that went down, but...

Change of Pace: Warriors win

The Golden State Warriors staged a three quarter rally to defeat Indiana. The game was a home coming for two former overpaid Warriors whose departure harkened in a new era for the team. The players who came from Indiana didn't exactly shine but Baron Davis and Monta Ellis were anchors out on the court.

Austin Croshere grows Baron's beard.

Admittedly finesse and style may not be his middle name, but I will give him hustle, heart and pure efficacy. In 12 minutes of play, our very own, very white guy, logged 6 rebounds and 11 points. Including two from a crushin' dunk.

Boom Dizzle with White Chocolate?

I hope you're wearing your flare because TGI GSWs!!! Boom Dizzle with White Chocolate - could this be what's on the dessert menu this fall? Do you think Nellie got busy with one of those Jack Daniel's Samplers with extra sauce and put a call in to Pat Riley? (BTW- At the next FTB party we're totally having naked Jack Daniel's bbq sauce wrestling. Who's in?)

Beard control. Enter Austin Croshere.

Well, the Warriors have added a solid bench piece that knows how to use his big frame to control other players. Particular those on his own squad that may be getting a little "feisty". He's very familiar with much of the current roster, including Harrington, Jackson and "The Cabbage" teammates while in Indiana. He even has ties to Mr.Dizzle, whom he played High School ball with in Santa Monica.
