Could Wood be a fit for Blue Jays?
The Toronto Blue Jays expressed interest in trading for infielder Brandon Wood as recently as this offseason, sources say.
And there is every reason to believe the Jays will check in on him again, after the Los Angeles Angels designated his contract for assignment earlier this week.
The Angels will likely trade Wood during the coming days, because his former status as one of the...

Brandon Wood Should Get His Opportunity to Start This Week
Brandon Wood
Brandon Wood should get his opportunity to show what he has to offer sometime this week.
Tomorrow would be ideal. I don’t know if we will actually see him, but I think it would be perfect.
The game isn’t televised in the Pittsburgh market because the Penguins will be playing. This might relieve a little bit of the pressure that may be on the 26-year old.
He will...

Will Brandon Wood Figure Things Out?
The Angels designated Brandon Wood for assignment earlier this week. He will latch on elsewhere given his former status as a top-tier prospect, but whether the 26-year old infielder can translate minor league raking into big league success remains to be seen.
Many expected the world from Wood given his gaudy minor league numbers and his ability to ably handle the shortstop position...

Pirates and other teams interested in Brandon Wood
Bob Nightengale of USA Today tweeted yesterday that there's no way that Angels' infielder Brandon Wood will clear waivers. Nightengale points out that the Pirates and other teams are “all over him.”
The Angels designated Wood for assignment earlier this week to create room for Erick Aybar. Wood took over for Aybar when the infielder suffered a slight strain on...

MLB News: Brandon Wood To Try to Resurrect His Career With Pirates
The Pittsburgh Pirates claimed former top prospect Brandon Wood off of waivers from the Los Angeles Angels. Wood is a career .178 hitter with only 11 homeruns in 173 major league games. Wood was a first round draft pick and hit 43 homeruns in 2005 at the minor league level. Wood was expected to hit for power when he was recalled but he has just not been able to figure out major league...

Should the Twins take a shot at Brandon Wood?
Upon reading about Brandon Wood being designated for assignment by the Angels, I got to thinking, should the Twins take a run at him? Tim Dierkes, over at MLBtraderumors, penciled the Twins in as a possible landing place for Wood. He mentions that he might not necessarily be an upgrade over the current options, but man he could be worth a risk. If he could be had for little to nothing...

Claiming Brandon Wood was right decision
It was announced a couple days ago that former top prospect Brandon Wood was designated for assignment by the Angels. Wood has fallen off since being ranked as high as the #3 prospect in all of baseball after being drafted in the 1st round of the 2003 draft. In order to make room for Wood on the 40-man and Major League rosters, Rule V draftee Josh Rodriguez was designated for assignment...

Wood excited for new opportunity with Bucs
One could hardly tell that Brandon Wood, fresh off a red-eye flight from California to Pittsburgh, was running on two hours of sleep. Minutes after donning his new No. 2 jersey, Wood smiled and spoke glowingly about the opportunity to revive his career with the Pirates.

There's No "M-V-P" In "Brandon Wood", But There Should Be
The Pirates sured up their 2011 World Series Title Roster today with the claim of Brandon Wood, from the Los Angeles Angels. For whatever reason, the Angels didn't want to win the World Series this year, so they DFA'd Wood. The Pirates figured they hadn't won a World Series since 1979, so they'd go ahead and take it this year. Wood will join the team either tomorrow...

Brandon Wood Designated for Assignment by Angels
If there's one thing I've seen about a thousand times over the past year, it has been this: "The Pirates should trade for Brandon Wood." Wood, Karstens lead Bucs to victory
Final: Pirates 5, Astros 1
WP: Jeff Karstens (7-4)
LP: Wandy Rodriguez (6-5)
Seriously, what can be said about Jeff Karstens? I say that after every single start. The guy has literally been on a season long hot streak. He pitched 7+ innings today and gave up just 1 run, and that was on a solo homer. Can’t ask for any more than that.

Goodbye Brandon Wood
I don’t think i have to tell you, I wasn’t a huge fan of Brandon Wood. He was truly a minor league monster, hitting more than 160 home runs and driving in close to 600 runs. His minor league success just didn’t translate to the majors. a 141 career average, plus the inability to win the 3rd base position after Chone Figgins left forced the Angels hand.
