Around the Farm: Miller nets two in Whale win
The Whale continued their roller coaster season with a 4-2 win last night over Bridgeport. Connecticut –who lost three games over the weekend– played a much crisper game. Of course, “much crisper” is used loosely here, as CT still wound up on the penalty kill six times.
J.T. Miller, the Rangers 2011 first round pick, gave the Rangers the victory in the third period when...
Around the Farm: St. Croix tallies another multi point game
In what is becoming par for the course for the Rangers fifth round pick in 2010, Michael St. Croix (WHL – Edmonton Oil Kings) notched another multi point game last night with a goal and an assist in the Oil Kings’ 4-3 OT loss. Edmonton out shot Prince Albert 50-22, but still came out on the losing end. St. Croix also finished with a +2 rating in the game.
Across the pond, another...
Around the Farm: Fogarty’s Irish best Nieves’ Wolverines
Last night, in a relatively rare televised NCAA game that featured two Ranger prospects, Steven Fogarty’s Notre Dame Fighting Irish bested Boo Nieves’ Michigan Wolverines by a score of 3-1. Both Nieves and Fogarty were held scoreless, but Nieves was on the ice for two of the Irish goals. Both teams will play again tonight in the second game of their back-to-back series.

Relax the kids will be alright
(New York Rangers)
It must be frustrating for those New York Ranger fans not having the NHL because of the lockout. And it may be even more frustrating for those who normally would be talking about the Rangers on their blogs or website.
I can understand that up to a point because when the NHL resumes play then most won't even bother talking about the Ranger prospects where...
Around the Farm: Lindberg, Andersson held scoreless
It seems to be a rare occasion when Oscar Lindberg is held scoreless in the SEL, but he was kept in check today in Skellefteå AIK’s 4-1 victory over Linköpings HC. Lindberg is still in the top-five in scoring with 11 points in 11 games. His point-per-game pace is amplified when you remember that the SEL is known for being a low scoring league. Also Calle Andersson, who dominated...

Around the Farm: St. Croix continues scoring ways
Even though the NHL is locked out, there is still plenty of hockey to watch and read about. In an effort to keep up with the Rangers prospects around the world, we are starting a new category of posts called Around the Farm. Whenever a Rangers prospect plays a game, we will give an update on how they performed.
A few notes about this: international games are tough to find recaps...
Musings: On the Rangers’ 2012 draft and other offseason thoughts
On the draft…
My excitement over the selection of Cristoval “Boo” Nieves in the second round of the June draft has been growing steadily. Nieves has always been a great passer and skater; the reports that he was fully engaged and very physical at prospect development camp have only boosted his stock. Nieves is going to the perfect place for his development, the University...
