According to a tweet from Dave Kaplan ... In order to make room on the active roster for Aramis Ramirez, Chad Tracy was designated for assignment Friday morning. Ramirez was activated from the 15-day DL and is in the Cubs' lineup for Friday's matchup against the White Sox.

New York Yankees sign infielder Chad Tracy

According to The Boston Globe (via Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com), the New York Yankees have signed infielder Chad Tracy. Tracy, 30, was designated for assignment and eventually released by the Chicago Cubs in late June. He will spend some time in the Minor Leagues and provide the Yankees the insurance of a corner infielder if the need arises.
