Clippers Consider Wilcox As Fallback Option To Odom

The Los Angeles Clippers are expected to sign Lamar Odom at some point this season, but they are considering Chris Wilcox as a fallback option, according to sources. Wilcox played under Doc Rivers with the Boston Celtics. Wilcox is a free agent. The Clippers remain likely to sign Odom as he works himself back into playing shape.

Chris Wilcox on Clips' radar as Odom fallback

Lamar Odom remains the leading candidate to be signed by the Los Angeles Clippers to fill the opening they have in their frontcourt rotation. By far. But there's at least one other known name on the Clippers' list behind Odom in terms of potential in-season signees: Chris Wilcox. Sources close to the situation say that Wilcox, who Clippers coach Doc Rivers knows well...

A Study in Green: Chris Wilcox

Our reviews from the 2012/13 season continue, this week turning our attention to a no-fuss veteran in Chris Wilcox. Credit: @Lil_kaino The Good Putting Taj Gibson on a poster Chris Wilcox’s Twitter said it all: ‘Minor setback for a major comeback.’ The man wearing #44 received some horrible news, namely the fact that he required aortic surgery in season 2011/12. This caused...

Chris Wilcox Open To Playing Overseas

Chris Wilcox's primary goal is to return to the NBA for next season, but the veteran big man is also open to giving consideration to heading overseas. “I am open to going overseas,” Wilcox said. “At the same time, I would love to stay here in the NBA. If it’s something that I have to do, then I’ll do it.” It is unlikely Wilcox will return to the Boston Celtics.

Video: Rajon Rondo and Chris Wilcox

On the heels of the news that Chris Wilcox wants to return to the Celtics but the Celtics don't want him, let's take a look back at really the best part of his Celtics career. The Rajon Rondo to Chris Wilcox connection was also one of the most surprising but entertaining parts of year's past. Wilcox couldn't find his way into the rotation at times, but man could...

Chris Wilcox still unsigned, unlikely to return to Boston despite his interest

From the Boston Globe's Gary Washburn in his "Sunday Basketball Notes" column: "Also on the market is former Celtic Chris Wilcox, who said he would like to return to Boston, but that’s highly unlikely with the new regime. Wilcox said that recovering from aorta surgery affected him last season and he promised to be in better shape this season." The Celtics...

Chris Wilcox gives back

Chris Wilcox with our girl Last week, I wrote an article about Chris Wilcox and how basically he was a disappointment for this team. Even though he didn't play well on the court, he is still grateful to the Boston community. Last month, he decided to give his time to the American Heart Association's Heart Ball last month in auctioning off a free basketball clinic on Monday...

Chris Wilcox is One of the Good Guys

We don't know if Chris Wilcox will return next year or not.   He didn't really get a fair shake this past season, considering that he had heart surgery on March 29 and was back playing in training camp in October.   Jeff Green's surgery was on January 9, almost 3 months earlier and it still took him until after the All Star game to finally start feeling almost normal...

The Forgotten Man: Chris Wilcox

Remember how stoked we were to resign Chris Wilcox for a bargain and how we thought he would perform well? I know he just got off of major heart surgery and he was already on the decline. But in the 2012 season, we saw him running the floor, catching lobs from Rondo, and doing something most Celtics don't do, rebound. He was getting praised by Doc Rovers, and seemed to be a...

Report: Chris Wilcox Thinks He May Have Come Back Too Soon After Heart Surgery

While Jeff Green‘s comeback from heart surgery was more highly publicized, another Celtics player was dealing with the aftereffects of a life-altering heart procedure as well this year. Chris Wilcox, whose 2011-12 season was cut short to have surgery on an enlarged aorta, was back on the court for training camp last fall and played in 61 games for the Celtics this season. But as...

An 11-year NBA veteran, Chris Wilcox Is Still a Playoff Rookie

It was about a month ago last year,  Chris Wilcox received the news he would need heart surgery and miss the remainder of the 2011-12 season. Randolph’s emergence may help, not hurt, Chris Wilcox

With just a handful of games left, there’s a hyper-focus on who might get minutes when the playoffs begin.  Last night, Doc went with the big lineup he promised when he made Jeff Green a starter:  Avery Bradley, Paul Pierce, Green, Brandon Bass, and Kevin Garnett.  That moved Chris Wilcox to the bench, and created an interesting little “Shavlik Randolph vs. Wilcox” scenario...

When reports came out that the Celtics nearly traded Chris Wilcox to the Wizards instead of Jason Collins, many Celtics fans were surprised.
